Nathaniel T. Nicholson, DDS, MS

Dr. Nicholson was born and raised in Morgantown, West Virginia. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Four years later, he graduated cum laude with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. While in dental school, he was a member of the Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity. During his last year of dental school, Dr. Nicholson and his research partner won first place in their class for their research poster presentation on dental implants. They traveled to San Antonio, Texas, to present their findings at the annual American Dental Association meeting.

After graduation, Dr. Nicholson worked as a general dentist for three years with his father in West Virginia. During this time, he was also on the faculty in the Department of Endodontics at the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. Dr. Nicholson decided to leave private practice and to return to West Virginia University to specialize in endodontics. He served as chief resident in the Department of Endodontics and received a certificate in endodontics as well as a Master of Science degree. Shortly after graduation, he became a Diplomate in the American Board of Endodontics. He has been a practicing endodontist in Maryland since 2014.

Dr. Nicholson is a participating member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association, the Patuxent Dental Society, and the American Association of Endodontists. He was a past president of the Patuxent Dental Society and is the current president of the WVU Endodontic Alumni Association. These associations enable Dr. Nicholson to stay up to date with all the current research and to collaborate with other dentists and specialists.

He published a chapter titled “Open Apices” in the textbook “Clinical Cases in Endodontics” that is used in dental schools nationwide and abroad.

Dr. Nicholson, his wife, and two children reside in Anne Arundel county. They enjoy spending time with their two dogs, boating, fishing, crabbing, and being with friends and family.
